So... what's the story?

'So... what's the story?' has been set up by Justine de Mierre, a storyteller, theatre maker and arts consultant, as a means of articulating and connecting the different strands of her work.

Justine has a BA in Psychology & Economics from Cambridge and graduated in acting from Drama Studio London. As an actress, she performed in schools, theatres, museums and community settings across the country. In 2000, she founded Ladder to the Moon, an innovative interactive theatre company in South London. As Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Ladder to the Moon, she led the company, creating and directing shows and characters across a wide spectrum of community settings. This included work in shopping centres, streets and schools, as well as ground breaking character residencies in working hospital wards and elderly care units, and drama projects to inspire and empower young people on the margins of society.

In 2007, she completed the prestigious Clore Cultural Leadership Fellowship – including leading a visioning process with the Royal Albert Hall’s senior management team and completing the first academic research into the nature of Interactive Theatre. She has recently been involved in developing a piece of work for those with profound and multiple learning difficulties with Oily Cart - the acclaimed theatre company making work for the under 2s and other non-verbal audiences.

Her most recent venture, inspired by her 2 year old son, is Storyplaytime, providing fun, interactive theatre activities for the under 5s (www.storyplaytime.co.uk). The sessions are designed to develop imagination and improve communication and the quality of play between the very young and their carers.
